Establish Connection: Next, we establish a connection to the R/3 system. This is a two-way handshake, with the BW system sending a request, and the R/3 system confirming the connection.
Replicate Metadata: Once the connection is established, we replicate metadata from the R/3 system to the BW system. This metadata is essentially the data about data, such as the structure of different data elements, data types, etc.
Transfer Data: Finally, we use InfoPackages (data containers) to transfer data from the R/3 system to the BW system. These packages can be scheduled to run at specific intervals, ensuring that our BW system has the latest data for analysis. more here
